Stone Wave Garden

石波庭

San Francisco

The Stone Wave Garden is a contemporary karesansui garden. The garden makes perceptible, in sculptural form, the wave-like flow of the world we live in.

The upper garden includes a Japanese-style guestroom, a wooden landing, an outdoor bath, and a round garan-seki used as a pedestal for artwork.

The middle garden has a terrace made of antique pavers from Kyoto and a dry waterfall and stream.

The lower garden includes the Stone Wave Garden, a river-stone water basin, and a delicate wooden arbor that evokes the waiting benches of a tea garden.
